Modern burlesque teaching

March 6. 2014
I meet a lot of different kind of people all the time in my work and now and then, you find a gem. I was happy to find one last year. Dannie Diesel is the head organizer of the Iowa Burlesque festival and many of you knows her also as Danielle Colby, the star and Antique Archaeology office manager and leads maven from the tv series 'American Pickers'. This year Dannie contacted me because she wanted me to help her out with her latest burlesque act. And what a pleasure it has been! Her sunny personality, desire to work hard and challenge herself has been truly inspiring also for me. We started as co-workers but very fast noticed similarities in each others and became friends. Sometimes it just feels easy to talk with someone and occasionally we forget the studying part...! ;) So far we have been going through facial expressions & sharing ideas and little secret tips what it comes to her choreography. This type of modern way to teach burlesque, dancing, choreography etc. is very challenging through Skype and tons of e-mails and videos. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous first how it's going to work, but during this time period I have noticed that it's doable when you have clear goals, the will, patience and similar mindset! I still do prefer face-to-face teaching as it's easier & quicker way for everybody but I wanted to share what kind of experience I have got. I think we can see the results of 'internet teaching' when Dannie is ready to perform her new, polished act. 1470030_618235174901877_1431936985_n
